What is Zoom Whitening?

Zoom Whitening is a revolutionary teeth whitening option which whitens the teeth up to eight times better than traditional treatments, and in just an hour!

The treatment uses a Zoom advanced power chairside lamp to accelerate the bleaching process.

Unlike regular teeth whitening, Zoom Whitening removes stubborn stains.

The bleaching gel used in the process removes stains that can’t be removed by regular teeth whitening. The result is a healthy and longer lasting glow.

What Stains the Teeth?

There are intrinsic and extrinsic factors to teeth discolouration. When the discolouration is intrinsic, the inner structure of the tooth darkens or takes on a yellowish glint. Possible causes are trauma to the tooth or a rare condition called dentinogenesis imperfect (causes amber, purple, or gray shades)

Common extrinsic factors are smoking and tobacco, coffee, citrus, tea, acidic foods, sweets, wine, soy sauce, and soda. Brushing your teeth after meals and other good oral hygiene habits can help battle these stains. However, left unattended, the stains can harden and may need professional help.

After getting a root canal treatment, the tooth loses its vitality and becomes more fragile. This makes it more likely to chip or break. To protect the tooth from further infection and to structurally strengthen it, a dental crown is usually installed on top of the treated root.

The Zoom Whitening Procedure

Teeth whitening is not for everyone. Once your Prevent Dental Suite dentist has identified you as an ideal candidate, you will undergo the following process.

Your teeth are prepared by a dental hygienist. They are cleaned thoroughly before the procedure.

The gums and lips are covered to isolate and expose the teeth for whitening. The Zoom hydrogen peroxide is applied to the teeth and stays there for 15 minutes. The Zoom advanced chairside lamp is focused on your teeth within those 15 minutes.

After the designated time, the gel is removed and your dentist will repeat the process. Your dentist may show you the result after several 15-minute cycles. If you are satisfied with the result, you can stop your dentist at any point.

It is normal for your teeth to be sensitive after the procedure. Your dentist will give you detailed oral hygiene instructions and aftercare tips. A take-home Zoom touch-up kit with custom-fitted whitening trays and usage instructions will also be given.

FAQs

Root canal treatment is a procedure used to save a tooth that has been damaged by decay or infection. The procedure involves removing the damaged tissue from inside the tooth, cleaning and disinfecting the tooth, and then sealing it.
Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (the nerve and blood supply) of a tooth becomes infected or damaged. If left untreated, an infected tooth can lead to pain, swelling, and eventually tooth loss.
With today's advances in technology, root canal treatment is usually no more painful than having a filling placed. Most patients report only minor discomfort during and after the procedure.

Root canal treatment usually takes one or two visits to your dentist's office. The first visit will involve numbing the tooth and removing the damaged tissue. The second visit will involve sealing the tooth.

Root canal treatment is a common procedure that is used to save teeth that have been damaged by decay or infection. The goal of the treatment is to remove the damaged tissue, clean the inside of the tooth, and then seal it to protect it from future damage. Root canal treatment is usually successful, and most teeth that have undergone the procedure can last a lifetime. However, there are a few cases where the tooth may become re-infected, in which case a repeat procedure may be necessary. Overall, root canal treatment is a permanent solution for most people.
