Strathpine is a suburb in the Moreton Bay region of Queensland, Australia. It has a wonderful history which included a gold rush in the 1800’s. Some businesses are well established there, and it has the Strathpine Centre as its shopping hub. The population of the town is about 9500.

History

Apart from the gold discovered there, the area was mainly known for its farming activities, particularly in dairy. From 1889 to 2008, the suburb was the administrative centre of the Pine Rivers Shire Council.

After the opening of a large army camp and airfield as a support centre for WWII troops, the population in Strathpine boomed during that time. Over the years, the suburb has become somewhat multicultural as a result of years of immigration.

Education and Transportation

Strathpine has a couple of state schools and a high school with those wanting to go on to tertiary education having to commute to the city or study at the University of QLD campus recently located in the town.

Strathpine has a railway station as part of the North Coast line, and there is a regular bus service that operates in the area and travels to surrounding suburbs.
